How do I update my qualifications?
To update your qualifications, log into your account and click on ‘My Details’. Enter your qualification details at the bottom. Click ‘Save Details’ to save your changes.
I don’t have a planning permission number yet. How do I get past this on the system?
If you leave the Planning Permission No. field blank, the system won’t ask for a Date of Expiry.
The ‘Supporting Documents’ section doesn’t show a green tick.
Ensure all supporting documents have been uploaded. The additional support documents are as follows: general arrangement drawings, schedule of plans, inspection plan, plans, calculations, inspection notification framework, and elevations.
The stakeholder has not received the nominated role. Can this be re-sent?
Ask him/her to check their junk email folder. If the email is not there, the project creator can remove them from the role, then re-add them to the role, thus the email will be re-sent.
How do I reset my password?
Go to the BCMS homepage, http://www.localgov.ie/bcms-new Click ‘Login’, then click ‘Request New Password.’
Enter your email address and click ‘Email New Password.’
You will receive an email with the subject ‘Replacement login information.’
Click on the link in the email to reset your password.
I cannot see the full description of my property on the commencement form I downloaded.
Due to space limitations, only 90 characters will appear on file for download and print. However, the full description will be stored on the system for future reference.
How do I create a short form Commencement Notice?
Log in to http://www. localgov.ie/en/user/?destination=bcms
Click ‘New Application.’
In the ‘NEW COMMENCEMENT NOTICE APPLICATION’ section, click ‘Create New Application.’
In the ‘Select notice type’ dropdown menu, select ‘Commencement Notice without Documentation.’
How do I update my qualifications as I do not have a builder qualification?
If you don’t have a builder qualification, you can select ‘Other’ from the ‘Registration type’ dropdown menu and click ‘Save Details.’
How do I change the name of a stakeholder?
A stakeholder can change this themselves when they log into the BCMS site by clicking ‘My Details,’ making the required changes, and clicking ‘Save Details.’
I am an architect in Northern Ireland but not RIAI-registered. How do I accept my role?
The designer must be a member of one of the three professions (e.g. an architect must be a registered member of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland); the applicant should contact them and explain his/her circumstances.
Individuals assigned to a project cannot see it when they log in.
Check the building project’s ‘nominate roles’ tab for the email address used for the role. Following this, you can advise the customer if their email address is different to the one they are logging in via. If this is the case, they need to contact the project creator to change the email address.
Why can I not assign a role to the appropriate person?
Prior to assigning a role to any person they must already be a registered BCMS user. If they are not a registered user they must register and you will then be able to assign the role. If they are a registered user please ensure the correct email address has been entered, if they have two accounts make sure you are using the correct account.
