What elements should be inspected by Building Control inspectors at the various construction stages?

The following elements should be inspected throughout the construction process:

Design – Paper Assessment (S11 requests) - Parts A-M of the Building Regulations.

Formation Level – Substructure and Drains - Parts A, C, D and H of the Building Regulations - Ground-bearing, drainage.

Foundations – Excavation ready for inspection - Parts A, B, C, D, H, K, L and M of the Building Regulations - Foundations, pipe covers.

Ground Floor Level – Superstructure walls and floor joists laid - Parts A, B, C, D, H, K, L and M of the Building Regulations - Access, ventilation, walls.

Wall Plate Level – Services, ventilation etc. - Parts A, B, D, E, F and M of the Building Regulations - Fire, insulation, floors (sound).

Roof – Roof construction and bracing complete - Parts A, B, J and K of the Building Regulations - Fire, bracing, water storage.

Certification – First fix services complete and ready for occupation - Parts A-M of the Building Regulations - Installation manuals.
