If variable settlement is likely to be a problem, it may be advisable to change the design from long terraces to semi-detached or detached houses. This would serve to limit the effect of differential movement.

Accounting For Site Conditions
The risk of cracking is reduced by use of semi-detached and detached houses instead of terraces.
