How to Create a Cosy Winter Home

Winter is the season for cosy nights in by the fire, under warm blankets. The colder months are perfect for staying in and avoiding the chilly reality outside. This is when we spend much more time at home than usual, meaning the space we live in should be the epitome of warmth and comfort. Here are some tips on how to create the cosiest home this season.

Bathroom

Run a bubble bath

A bath is an important feature of the bathroom, especially in Winter. Even if you’re more of a shower person, having a bath is essential after being outside in the freezing temperatures. Whether you have a shower bath, a freestanding bath, or a jacuzzi bath; add bubbles, light your candles, and get your favourite book out.

If you really can’t stand baths, make the most of your shower with a stylish shower curtain (Winter themed) or a modern glass panel.

Warmth & Freshness

If you haven't gotten into this trend yet, then it's about time. Transform your bathroom into a relaxing spa with the help of scented candles and an essential oils diffuser. By pouring a few drops of your favourite aroma into your bath, or by activating a diffuser half an hour before your ritual is scheduled to begin, you can devote yourself to the rest of your winter wellness routine—moisturising your cold-bruised skin or applying a relaxation mask. As a finishing touch, wrap yourself in a soft and stylish towel.

Transform your bathroom into a spa with candles and essential oils. Check out our stylish candles and candle holders here, perfect for the bathroom and elsewhere. If you have a diffuser, activate it with your essential oils or if not, add a few drops into your bath. A heated towel rack is the perfect addition to your bathroom. These wonderful products double as a radiator and a towel or clothes rail.

Kitchen

Store your hot drinks

Make sure your kitchen cupboards are stocked up with your hot drink of choice this season, whether it’s herbal tea, hot chocolate, or a hot port! We have some beautiful mugs to drink out of in our shop.

Store tea bags, sugar, marshmallows in some clear jars and leave them on display on your kitchen counter for easy access for yourself and guests at all times of the day.

Fill up on comfort food

Comfort food is vital during the Winter seasons. Stock up on all your favourite snacks, and ingredients to create warm, wholesome food. Keep everything neat in your kitchen cupboards or in your pantry with airtight containers and jars.

This season, indulge in the art of cooking and try out some comforting recipes such as soups and casseroles. Or try a new takeaway and cosy up in the living room.

Living Room

Surround yourself with warm colours

Choose neutral colours for your living room such as chestnut or camel, or even warmer tones like terracotta or chocolate to heat up the space. This room sets the tone for Winter and is where you’ll spend most of your time snuggled up in front of the tv or reading a book. If you have a fireplace, keep that burning throughout the Winter and let the crackling flames offset the warm interior.

Comfort is key

Since you’ll be spending a lot of time laying on the couch, invest in the one perfect for your home. Take a look at the fabulous variety we have to offer you here. Layer your couch with soft cushions and stylish throws galore and place a large rug to match in the middle of the floor for ultimate comfort.

Bedroom

On Cloud 9

Your bedroom will be your relaxing hideaway during the colder months. It’s a place to recharge your batteries and to spend lazy Sunday mornings. You’re going to want to have a bed in the size that suits you as well as bedding that feels like you’re lying on clouds. You can find all this here.

The perfect lighting

Add ambience to your bedroom by using warm lighting. Let in the natural crisp, morning sunlight when you wake up and as the evenings grow darker, make sure to have several light choices to ensure the cosiest space. Having a variety of lights with differing levels of brightness, such as a main light with a switch and a bedside lamp with a dimming feature will create a cosy atmosphere.

At the end of your day, scatter fairy lights around and light some candles before you get into bed. This will add a flicker of light, warmth, and keep your room smelling fresh and Wintery.
