Spring Cleaning Checklist
After a cold winter, spring has sprung. Now is a perfect time to breathe new life into your home and give it a spring clean. We have provided a checklist for each room to make it easier for you to tackle each task without getting overwhelmed. Print out this checklist, refresh your home and leave it gleaming!
Entryway & Hallways – We’ll start off easy here. For most of you this section will be about wiping everything down and getting it all organised
□ Wipe walls
□ Clean doors and windows
□ Wash or replace doormats/rugs
□ Wipe down shelves, picture frames, ornaments
□ Sweep/Hoover floors
□ Mop floors
□ Hang coats
□ Organise shoes
□ Organise shelves & display cabinets
Bathrooms – Next, we think you should tackle the bathrooms. Everything will need a good clean to keep it all shining.
□ Discard of expired medicine, toiletries, and makeup properly
□ Organise cabinets and drawers
□ Clean mirrors
□ Wipe walls
□ Clean doors and windows
□ Clean shower/bath and showerhead
□ Clean sink and toilet
□ Wash shower curtain and replace liner
□ Wash floor and shower mats
□ Sweep/Hoover floors
□ Mop floors
Kitchen – Time to clean all appliances
□ Discard of expired food in pantry, fridge, or freezer
□ Defrost freezer
□ Clean shelves and drawers in fridge and freezer
□ Dust behind the fridge and the top of cabinets
□ Clean stovetop
□ Clean grill
□ Clean oven
□ Clean microwave
□ Clean dishwasher
□ Wipe down your microwave, coffee machine, toaster, and any other appliance
□ Clean down countertops and put non-essential appliances and utensils into storage
□ Clear out cabinets, clean inside and reorganise them
□ Clean sink, tap and drain
□ Wash or replace kitchen towels, cloths, and sponges
□ Wipe walls
□ Clean doors and windows
□ Sweep/Hoover floors
□ Mop floors
Dining room – Your dining room will probably need a good dust down
□ Clear dining table and wipe down table & chairs
□ Wash tablecloths
□ Polish cutlery
□ Dust any china and dishes down
□ Dust light fixture
□ Wipe walls
□ Clean doors and windows
□ Clean blinds or curtains
□ Wash rugs
□ Sweep/Hoover floor
□ Mop floor
Laundry Room – You wash your clothes here, but it rarely gets the cleaning attention it deserves
□ Clean washing machine
□ Clean dryer
□ Clean lint traps in washing machine and dryer
□ Dust behind appliances
□ Wipe walls and shelves
□ Organise laundry products and place them high up
□ Sweep/Hoover floor
□ Mop floor
Living Room – Keep your living space tidy and cosy
□ Dust/Hoover furniture
□ Remove furniture cushions and hoover crevasses
□ Wash blankets and cushions
□ Dust and sanitize lamp shades, décor, and electronics
□ Wipe walls
□ Clean doors and windows
□ Clean blinds or curtains
□ Wash rugs
□ Sweep/Hoover floors
□ Mop floors
Office – This space needs to be tidied up and organised
□ Recycle or shred unneeded paperwork (keep paperwork in folders or on your computer)
□ Dust/Hoover furniture
□ Dust bookshelf
□ Sanitise and disinfect keyboard, mouse and electronics
□ Clean keyboard with canned air
Bedroom – Next task is to clear out your closets and make your beds
□ Organise drawers and closets – donate or throw away unused clothes
□ Flip mattresses and put fresh bedding on the beds
□ Dust/Hoover furniture
□ Disinfect and tidy up kids’ toys
□ Wipe walls
□ Clean doors and windows
□ Clean blinds or curtains
□ Wash rugs
□ Sweep/Hoover floors
□ Mop floors
Outdoors – This is the final step in making sure your home is ready for the Spring. The outdoors will be used much more in the warmer months and you’re going to want it to be in its best shape.
□ If you have a garage, open up the door and air out the space
□ Remove and reorganise tools, sports equipment, and toys – discard or donate any unused items
□ Clean garage door
□ Wipe walls
□ Sweep floor in garage and patios outside
□ Clean all windows outside and in garage
□ Power wash ground or decking and outdoor bins
□ Clean outdoor furniture
□ Get rid of weeds and any dead plants
Doing a spring clean can be a big and daunting task so just take one room at a time. You can try and cover one room a day or a week, depending on your schedule. Remember to use this checklist to help you and you will feel accomplished when finished!
