The kitchen is considered a sanctuary by some people. It’s a place where they feel calmer and more relaxed. Kitchens are straightforward - they must be clean and functional. Since most of us are staying at home these days, we have plenty of time in our hands so why not use this time to give your kitchen some fixed and an upgraded look?

There are many ways to transform your kitchen from a simple look to a more modern and functional design. There are several things to consider before putting this idea into action. First, consider your budget. How much are you willing to spend off to give your kitchen an upgrade? Once this has been decided, you can determine whether this will be a DIY (do-it-yourself) project, or you’ll hire a professional. Now, it’s time to give your kitchen a new look with these recommendations.

1) Consider your flooring

When was the last time you had your flooring cleaned up? Have you been cleaning it often, yet it doesn’t look like it was recently cleaned? Perhaps, it’s about time to change your flooring design. Don’t wait until you’re missing a tile to give your flooring a new look. When you decide to change the flooring, your space will look different.

What kind of flooring do you have? If you still have a vinyl or linoleum type of flooring, why not upgrade it to wooden tiles, ceramic tile, or stone tiles? Flooring with statement tiles will make your kitchen look modern and stylish.

2) Change The Lighting

These days most of us don’t only stay in one part of the house to work. Since work from home has become a popular arrangement, many of us are comfortable bringing our laptops to different house sections. If you consider the kitchen an extension of your work area, perhaps you might consider changing the lighting. Make it suitable not just for the dining experience but also for a working space. Choose energy-efficient or environmentally friendly lighting fixtures, not just in your kitchen but in the whole house as well.

3) Accessorize The Kitchen

Invest in accessories that will make your kitchen feel homier and more unique at the same time. If you are after that natural, organic look, you might want to add some trays made from bamboo or rattan in your kitchen. Enhance your kitchen character by adding up some accessories to accentuate the overall look you are trying to achieve.

4) Update Your Hardware

Think of the best hardware you’ll want to invest in. Changing your cabinet handles can be one way to make a simple kitchen upgrade. Look out for loose or outdated cabinet handles; maybe it’s time to get them replaced. Do you have a lot of spices with not enough space to store them? Why not get a stainless-steel pullout pantry basket to house your spices and condiments? Check your local shops for discounts or go shopping online. Switch out the tap in your sink to complement the cabinet handles and tie the whole design together.

5) Add Some Touch Ups To Your Cabinets

Repainting your kitchen cabinets can completely transform the room. Make sure that you consider the colours of your floors and the materials within your kitchen space. Giving your cabinet some fresh paint requires that the colours match the overall look of your kitchen. Try contrasting colours to emphasize the cabinet’s look. If you are unsure of the final colour to get, try painting one kitchen cabinet first and see how it looks and what you feel about it before painting out the whole lot.

6) Consider Space-Saving Designs

There are several space-saving ideas you can get inspiration from online. For tight kitchen spaces, it is always advisable to maximize your area by making use of the storage spaces. Add shelves for storage. Intelligent storage space is a great way to declutter your kitchen and conceal your kitchen equipment to make it more aesthetically pleasing.

7) Use Eye-Catching Tile Layout Designs.

There are several designs one can make from a simple tile design. Make use of your creativity and design your kitchen with captivating tile layouts. With a nice-looking tile format, you’ll have a kitchen design that could be unique to you.
