Bedroom Trends 2022
Headboards
Headboards have been popular in bedroom for many years now, whether for practicality or design reasons, but style is evolving from the typical headboards that we are used to seeing. Colourful mattes have replaced glossy monotones and shapes have become more complex. Headboards are rising through the ranks and becoming an imperative design element for 2022.
The design of headboards are becoming much more 3D and varying in shapes and sizes. The current trend seems to promote the idea that ‘bigger is better’ and there is an emphasis on alternative shapes that curve around or point out at the edges, creating a form of art in their own right.
The idea this year is that headboard designs will be so creative and extra that they will double as bedding and art. If you’re doing it right, your headboard will be the centre focus of your bedroom this year. You can upholster your headboard or purchase one in a variety of patterns and materials - embrace bold and bright décor. Choose something unique to you and play around with your bedroom interior.
If you’re worried about your budget, your bed and headboard is not somewhere to shy away from spending your money. Spend the most that your budget will allow as your bed is a long-term investment and headboards can be an inexpensive way of transforming your room.
Headboards are also practical and can add warmth and texture to your room. They add structure to the bed and create a welcoming effect on your bed. What more could you want at the end of a day than a warm, inviting, and visually appealing bed to come home to?
Art
Place your favourite art pieces in your bedroom and design the space around you. Your bedroom is the most intimate space for you and is somewhere where you can wholeheartedly let your personality shine.
If art is something that you are interested in, it will be significant in the bedroom. If you prefer a more modern and minimal space, you could scatter pieces of Scandinavian minimalist line art around your room for example. Or perhaps, if you have a favourite art piece, use this as the centre piece of your room and design your design scheme around it.
Whatever you choose to add to your room, whether you incorporate sculptures or your own paintings, will give an insight into your personality and your interests and in turn create a wonderful space.

Layering
Layering in the bedroom is another major trend of 2022. Play with patterns, vary your colour palette, and mix textures this year to create your own trendy sanctuary.
Regarding colour, incorporate two or three different colours with the same hue so that the colours flow throughout the room and are visually appealing together. When choosing your scheme, think of how you want your bedroom to make you feel and which colours you relate to that.
Add visual interest to your room with different patterns by adding in a feature wall or placing an embellished rug down on the floor. Don’t be afraid of mixing and matching as long as you co-ordinate. Layer your bed with different patterns to create a cosy and sophisticated bed.
Playing around with different textures can tie a whole room together. Incorporate texture with fur cushions, tassels on the trim of your curtains, ceramic lamps, or whatever your heart desires. Doing this will bring personality and charm into your room and make it an interior masterpiece.
Colours –
While neutrals will continue to be popular in homes, bold colours are becoming more common this year as colour can affect mood and well-being. Bright, saturated colours have a naturally uplifting effect that many see necessary for their bedroom in 2022.
Adding bright colours into your bedroom will create a fun and expressive atmosphere. Colour blocking with variations of the primary palette will add vibrancy and optimism into your space.
Some of you may opt for a bright yellow or green bedroom all over, while others may incorporate pops of colour throughout the bedroom, mixing bright colours with more muted tones to keep your space more liveable and appealing to all.
If you are more daring, a blue bedroom could be something to think about. Colour engages with people’s emotions and blue creates a welcoming and calming vibe. Painting your walls cyan or adding teal furniture would give your room and bright and happy feel while keeping the relaxing atmosphere of a bedroom intact.
However, if you want to stick with a neutral colour scheme this year, do not fear! We don’t see neutral tones going out of trend any time soon as peace and tranquillity are what most people associate with these colours and what they want out of their bedroom.
Many people are stripping themselves back and leading more minimal lives overall as they are more environmentally conscious. This mindset is brought into bedroom décor and with this comes the popularity of organic, sustainable materials, many of which come in natural, muted colours.
If your bedroom is somewhere for you to relax and meditate and you feel as though bright, energetic colours will be too much, opt for natural browns and muted greens in order to create your tranquil relaxation room.
