This space was designed by Patrick McCabe Architects.

They were left in quite a quandary during "the lockdown" as their business relied on meeting clients face to face. They were lucky enough to have a sizable space to the side of their patio. Although it did entail a small amount of construction, they decided it would be worth it in the long run.

During the day it could be used for outdoor business meetings providing a safe comfortable space for their clients and then as an entertainment space for friends and family in the evening.

They used a hard wood teak finish to clad the outside wall and the frame. Once treated the teak would withstand the inclement Irish weather. Electric heaters were attached to the house wall and a chiminea stove gives the space a lovely warm atmosphere in the evenings. The chimenea stove is a JOTUL outdoor wood stove. JOTUL is a very long established household brand in Norway where they know a thing or two about the cold! It is important to note the soft furnishings on the chairs. The throws show the Foxford rugs transition over the years. The original Foxford rug that we all remember before the appearance of duvets, is draped over one chair to keep visitors warm and cosy on those chilly days. Two more modern Foxford throws adorn two other chairs, with the very popular sheepskins making an appearance too.

This unused area of the garden has been brought back to life and has become the hub of the house to be enjoyed by all who come to visit.
