If you’re planning on having guests staying over Christmas time, you’ll be getting the guest room ready. While doing so, why not add a festive touch to make their stay that much more special? Prepare the guest room to make sure your guests have somewhere comforting to relax and add some Christmas décor to give the room a personal feel. You could even use this guide to decorate your own bedroom this festive season.

Garland

Hang some garland on the headboard, making sure to secure it properly so that it doesn’t fall on your guests while they’re sleeping! Add some garland on the bedside lockers for more of a festive feel and if there’s a mantlepiece in the bedroom, make use of that by adding garland there too.

If your garlands are homemade, be careful about adding real mistletoe as the berries are poisonous and could get into the hands of kids or animals.

Fairy light & Candles

Fairy lights, lanterns, and candles are a cosy addition to a Christmas guest room. As this room is meant for relaxation, stick the white lights, and avoid the flash settings. Scatter tea lights in Christmas candle holders around the room and twist LED lights around the windowsill or hang them from the ceiling.

These are great additions as you don’t need to get rid of the lights and candles once Christmas is over – they are perfect for a cosy guest room.

Cushions & Throws

Fill your guest room with festive soft furnishings such as cushions, throws, and other bedding. Pillows can double as a Christmas decoration if wording like ‘Merry Christmas’ is printed onto them. The same can be done with throws or you can create a simpler look with plain red, green, or gold throws. Festive pillow and duvet covers are another cosy way to add to the Christmas spirit.

Stockings

Placing a Christmas stocking to the end of your guests’ bed will make Christmas extra special for them. Fill the stocking with some small gifts on Christmas Eve so that your guest will wake up and feel truly at home.

However you choose to decorate your guest bedroom (or your own) this Christmas, whether you add extravagant décor or a few personal touches, you'll be sure to make Christmas even more special for your guests.
