Our house buying journey began on 29th February 2020 (just before covid hit and the building sector was turned on its head). From the day we put down the first deposit I had a vision of how I wanted the interior to look like. My three main things were bright, neutral and minimalistic. I always loved bright and monochrome interior so when picking the big things like the kitchen and flooring I made sure they aligned with my vision.

Once we put down that first deposit I started shopping straight away, mostly online due to covid. Amazon was my best friend during 2020 and I got some beautiful quality pieces from there including my bedside lockers which were pre assembled, which is always a bonus. The kitchen was a main area I wanted to be perfect as I got a lot of advice from family telling me once the kitchen is in it's something you won’t change for at least a decade. So the kitchen was something I really focused on, I knew from the start I wanted a bright kitchen and when I started looking at showrooms the glossy look was something I loved and the chrome handles just looked so modern and slick with the white gloss. I had a vision of how the kitchen would look in my head from when I started looking at the showrooms and my vision definitely came to life and I couldn’t be happier.

As I said my visions for the interior were bright, neutral and minimalistic and I also wanted the house to have a flow to it and for the rooms to have similarities. So all the furniture we selected is grey as grey is such a versatile colour and a pop of colour such as a coloured cushion can be added and can change the whole look of the room. For Christmas for example I added red cushions to the sitting room and added red decorations and flowers to the kitchen and they blended in to the rooms perfectly. In most of the rooms I also have prints which I think are so versatile and really fill up the blank walls (which we had a lot of in this house).

Since we got the keys in May 2021 I have enjoyed making our house a home. I can’t wait for the year ahead and I’m looking forward to more designing and decorating.
