Smart House with Coast Views

Situated on the coast road there is a new luxury estate called Béal Taoide, built by Kenny Developments Galway Ltd, which comprises 14 detached houses. This home boasts stunning views of Galway Bay and Oranmore town land, and enjoys a large landscaped garden to the front and back. Béal Taoide was the perfect location for Mark and Niall to relocate. Although they loved the design, they felt that some modifications would be needed to create a space that would benefit them and their needs.

The houses in this development were designed by O’Neill and O’Malley Architects. The owners requested some slight modifications were taken on board by the architects and developer adding to the aesthetic of their home. They were delighted with the ease and skill with which the new design modifications were executed. The project throughout benefitted from both the creative input and project management of Orla Tighe of Brown House Interiors, bringing the home to completion. The owner’s changes sought to capitalize on the views throughout and to maximize light in each room. This is not only a lovely house to look at but is also a smart house where the automation controls the lighting, heating, security system, blinds, gates, oven, and other daily activities. The ease of life in this home is obvious from the minute you enter.

With large, full height windows the light in this house is exceptional. As you enter the hallway the double height ceiling creates a spacious and welcoming entrance. Floored in a hard wood timber herring bone pattern floor contrasts the simplicity of the the decor in the hall. All the solid timber floors throughout were expertly supplied and fitted by Sean Barrington of Woodplus Flooring. Your eye is immediately drawn to a large piece of glass that sits proudly on a pedestal at the the front door. After further investigation, we were informed about the origin of the piece, it stems from Waterford Crystal - it is simply a left over piece of crystal at then end of a busy day from the furnace.

The glass balustrade leads to a half landing with a large window to the back garden. To the right, a sliding door with a large glass panel leads you into the generous living space. With statement lighting and colourful furniture creating atmosphere, this space is both relaxing and playful. This space consists of the kitchen, dining area and living room with 1 M2 grey tiled floor throughout. To the left of the bank of cupboards is a hidden door - the entrance to a large butler’s pantry with bespoke shelving. The butler's pantry and kitchen units were skillfully designed built and fitted by Sean Conneely of Conneely Custom Built Kitchens & Bedroom, as were the dining room sideboard, wardrobes and vanity units. What really makes this space truly awe inspiring are the pieces of art and the artistic light fixings. A striking Danish leather suite of furniture is accessorized with navy scatter cushions and complemented by the navy rug and vivid wall art.

Downstairs also houses a music room, with a grand piano that doubles as an office for one of the owners. There is also a cosy sitting room with a cement shelf and a feature tiled wall from Spellman Tiles. An insert flush multi fuel stove from Ned Forde suits this room to a tee and blends beautifully into the fully tiled wall. The carefully chosen artwork, set on white walls on the ground floor, adds to the aesthetic of this house creating colour and individuality.

Upstairs at the front of the house, there are two ensuite bedrooms looking over the beauty of Galway Bay. The large picture windows take full advantage of the amazing views of Galway Bay with the Rinville peninsula beyond. As are all the windows in this home - remote control electric blinds from Blinds By Helen give the owners complete control over the views from the comfort of their bed. A relaxing colour palette is used in the master suite, which has a generous walk-in wardrobe. The deep shade on the walls is perfect for a relaxing nights sleep with the two designer drop lights on either side of the bed bringing that little bit of bling to the main bedroom.

There are two further bedrooms upstairs one of which has been converted into an office space. The entrance to this room is through a concealed panelled door. The monochrome family bathroom is beautifully designed with a large slate shower tray and a fabulous black oval bath accessorized with black fountain taps.

As we meandered around this beautiful home our eyes were drawn to various design aspects. Each space oozing functionality and beauty. An eclectic mix of the modern and a slight hint of the industrial aesthetic sets this home apart. A truly amazing home of which these owners can be extremely proud.
